A case currently being argued in the Supreme Court could result in a opinion that chips away at the rights of the owners of physical books, as well as DRM’d eBooks. See the article. Long, but worth it.

You may think you own the physical copy of a book or DVD you purchased. You may think that if you transfer that physical copy to someone else, it could not possibly involve copyright law. The Court may think otherwise.
